Tour Auto Optic 2000

On Saturday, April 24, the 220 classic cars of the Tour Auto Optic 2000 made a stop on the circuit Paul Ricard.

The classics cars took part in the French Automobile Tour between 1951 et 1973, that is one of the French major events of the period auto calendar and also a meeting with famous drivers. Today, we were allowed to see in the paddocks and amongst the competitors, some racing drivers such as Olivier Panis, Jean Ragnotti, Alain Serpaggi and Gerard Larousse, and also the motorcycle driver Christian Lavieille, the singer Philippe Lavil, and the sailor and racing driver Isabelle Patissier at the wheel of a Jaguar MK1 of 1959.

Amongst the cars on track: Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, Ferrari 250 GTO, Lamborghini Miura, Porsche 904 et 906, Ligier JS2, Citroën DS 19, Panhard Junior... This year, the number of participants was full: around 220 cars divided in two categories "competition" and "regularity".

This 2010 edition of the Tour Auto celebrates the fifty anniversary of the first victory of Ferrari 250 short chassis at the French Auto Tour. The famous "berlinette" entered in the legend of the French event by winning many races between 1960 and 1962. At the 2010 edition, 17 authentic copies of the Ferrari model were present on the starting grid.

Over 1,300 spectators enjoyed the show from the grandstands and also in the closed park getting closer to the nice cars.

Started from Aix-en-Provence in the morning, the last route of this 5-day journey stopped at Beaulieu-sur-Mer at the end of the day for the award ceremony's dinner.
