FIA GT1 : Free pratice and pre-qualifying

The GT1 World Championship has taken to the track at the HTTT Paul Ricard with the summer sun beating down on the track. The Free Practice session went by without any issues, with Frederic Makowiecki in the nr9 Hexis AMR Aston Martin DB9 setting the fastest time of the 80-minute session with a lap of 2:05.565. Jamie Campbell-Walter was second quickest in the nr22 Sumo Power GT Nissan GT-R, with a lap of 2:05.945. Third fastest this morning was Peter Kox in the nr24 Reiter Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV, with a best lap of 2:06.147.

In the afternoon, Ricardo Zonta set the fastest time of the day during GT1 World Pre Qualifying in the nr25 Reiter Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV, with a best time of 2:04.922, that was 0.6 seconds quicker that Frederic Makowiecki's time in the earlier Free Practice session. Zonta's Reiter team mate Peter Kox in the nr24 Lamborghini Murcielago was second fastest, with his best lap of 2:05.077, just 0.155 slower than the Brazilian. Andrea Bertolini, in the nr1 Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC12, set the third fastest time of 2.05.157 to keep the two Lamborghinis in his sights ahead of tomorrow mornings qualifying session.  The top 7 cars in the 80-minute Pre Qualifying session were covered by less than one second.  The session was briefly interupted when the red flags were show to recover the nr 9 Hexis AMR Aston Martin DB9 which had suffered a multiple puncture.
