Historic Grand Prix of Provence - Day 1

On Saturday, started the 3-hour race of the Historic Endurance Challenge leaded by the Chevron B8 n°59 driven by Paul Ingram and Chris Chiles. Started 5th on the grid, the pair completed a great race over the Chevron B16 of Emanuele and Gianpaolo Benedini, 9th. Léo Voyazides and Simon Hadfield, the polemen with the Lola T70MK, have been forced to abandon the race in the 53th lap. This race on the Circuit Paul Ricard ends the 2009 season of the Historic Endurance Challenge.

The legend is back!

27 historic formula 1 cars were ready on track at 11h40 for a practice session, then at 16h20 for the qualifying session which determined the starting grid for tomorrow race. Andy Meyric at the wheel of the March 461/6 car of AMR team will be the poleman for the last race of the 2009 FIA Historic F1 Championship. Joaquin Folch's Brabham BT49C-10 car will start second followed by Rowland Kinch's Arrows A4-2 and Martin Stretton's Lotus 87-004.

A great show on the French circuit!

Caterham cars were also present today on track in order to prepare the 3-hour endurance race of Sunday (starting at 14h15). Ortelli and Mora (Caterham n°84) will be first on the grid in front of Martinez/Cordei's n°96. The race promises a great show, the Caterham car being descendant of Lotus 7 car...

Tomorrow there will be two GT90 races on the Paul Ricard track. Today the qualifying session was dominated by the Saleen S7-R car of Tarres Auto, the Porsche 993G of CERT99, the Chrysler Viper of Espace Racing and the Lamborghini of AutoVitesse team. Spectacular races expected... starting at 9h15 and 11h35.
