Started at the end of last year, these meetings were aimed to allow Formula Le Mans and GT drivers and teams to race during the interseason in a cool and safe way at a reasonable price.
This last meeting of "Winter Series" included 2 Sprint races and one endurance race. See results and pictures.
Gérard Neveu, circuit director, thinks the Sportcars Winter Series report will be positive: "It is a success for teams and drivers especially in the actual motorsport economical situation. Strong of its success, the series gathered to each meeting more and more participants, until reach 24 cars on track for the last meeting. The Sportcars Winter Series will obviously be renewed next winter."
On this fourth Sunday of January, 800 spectators went in the Grand Prix Hall grand-stands, the one in the start straight and also on the Beausset 'double droite' hills. Besides the show on track, the public were allowed to make go-karting at the Karting Test Track, and learn about racing driving with simulators. The Circuit management invited employees families to see the races to please the circuit work force. This volition have been introduced last year for the first "family day" of the Circuit Paul Ricard.
From grand-stands, the public could make out the construction of the new pitlane. Indeed during winter break, the circuit Paul ricard started pitlane improvements to add 5 new boxes in the aim of welcome teams of major racing meetings such as the "8 Hours of Le Castellet" (April 10th and 11th), or the fourth round of the FIA GT World Championship (July 3rd and 4th).
