The French champion Jean Alesi has been named counselor and ambassador of the Circuit Paul Ricard.
Involved in the development and the new projects of the Circuit Paul Ricard, Jean Alesi will represent the Circuit Paul Ricard to drivers and motorsport world members, that same track that will host Formula 1 French Grand Prix from the 24th of June 2018.
The F1 driver who took part to 201 Grand Prix tells: « I am very happy to represent the Paul Ricard, this circuit is special for me: I make here my first steps in racing at Winfield school and I started my first Grand Prix in 1989 at the wheel of the Tyrell 018. This place is symbolic for me and I am very proud to represent it. »
Born in 1964 in Avignon, South of France, Jean Alesi started his racing career at the Circuit Paul Ricard at Winfield school. He took part then to his first go-kart competition in 1981, then raced with Formula 3 (French champion in 1987) and with F3000 (champion of 1989). He was on the starting grid of the 1989 French F1 Grand Prix at Le Castellet and finished fourth. He took on F1 podium 32 times with a great victory at Montreal, Canada in 1995 with a Ferrari.
