The motor sport fans and nostalgic of the circuit Paul Ricard had been waiting for 15 years! The first 2010 international race meeting made it. In 2009 the Paul Ricard Circuit inaugurated with Le Mans Series Team, the new grandstands and the reopening of the circuit to spectators. In 2010 it inaugurates new garages to welcome additional cars again with the Le Mans Series teams. The Paul Ricard is getting back to real life!
The brand new Audi R15, the 908 Peugeot HDi FAP, Aston Martin, Porsche, Ferrari ... neither one of these car manufacturer would have missed this meeting. The "8 Heures du Castellet" race was won by Audi R15 driven by Allan McNish and Dino Capello ahead of Aston Martin n° 009 from S. Mücke, H. Primat and A. Fernandez and the Rebellion Racing Lola of JC. Boullion, G. Smith and A. Belicchi.
Some 14 000 people were present on site for the first French Le Mans Series race meeting, to vibrate with free and qualifying test sessions as well as races since last Friday. Four different race meetings over the week-end with F3 Euroseries, Formula Ford, Classic Endurance Racing and of course the Le Mans Serie's 41 cars. The paddocks were filled with some 150 trucks for the 160 cars running this week-end. For the safety and the spectator welcome, some 250 agents, marshals and hostesses were on spot. 300 journalists were accredited to cover and broadcast the event. Full press release here.
