TECHNOLOGIES ET INNOVATIONS

The Circuit Paul Ricard has an innovative security system which promotes maximum prevention for minimu risk. The security of the Circuit Paul Ricard is based on major innovations and a set of control and information technologies that allow the track direction team, the medical and rescue teams to intervene in record time.

These innovations have been validated by the FIA and are used by other modern F1 circuits:

WATERING SYSTEM

Ultra-refined watering system enabling rainy driving conditions to be reproduced on 64 of the circuit’s track configurations.

RUN-OFF

Asphalt run-off zones replacing gravel beds. The run-offs, highlighted by the red and blue colour strips of the Blue Line™ concept, offer crucial advantages for safety through their abrasive surface which slows down vehicles going off the track.

TECPRO HIGH SPEED BARRIERS

Crushable polyethylene blocks lining the safety barriers, replacing the old tyre walls. The key innovation of this system is its capacity to absorb impact energy to reduce shock to the driver.

SIGNALING LIGHTS AND START LIGHTS

Circuit Paul Ricard and the company Alkamel Systems (AKS) have worked together to develop and install a complete light signaling system for future Grade 1 circuits. It creates a « benchmark » process as regards track safety systems.

ACO MONOBLOCK RACING DRAINS

High-strength concrete/polyester gutters which ensure that the track is well drained. These gutters, which can withstand the stresses of being repeatedly driven over, provide an extra guarantee of safety for the drivers.

RESCUE TEAMS

Support teams with high-speed vehicles crewed by two track marshals, who train all year round, particularly in fire control and driver extraction.

MEDICAL CENTER

It is managed by a permanent team comprising a head doctor, an anaesthetist and firemen equipped with cutting-edge medical facilities: resuscitation room, bath for major burns, radiography, examination room, and room with two healthcare beds.

VIDEO CONTROL ROOM

The race management is equipped with nine professional Sony LED screens and three LCD laser video projectors for displaying precise images of the race leader and a general view of the circuit thanks to the 40 mobile cameras placed around the track.

NIGHT LIGHTING SYSTEM

The Circuit Paul Ricards’s lighting system (made of sixty-seven lighting masts) enables to host tests and competitions at night.
