The SAFE competitiveness cluster chose Le Castellet International Airport to host its 4th SAFE Seminar on “Counter-UAV systems and protection of sensitive sites” on 17 and 18 October, in partnership with the French General Secretariat for Defence and National Security, the Sud Region, the Communauté d’Agglomération Sud Sainte Baume, the municipality of Le Castellet, DCIgroup, CS Group, MBDA, Naval Group and Thales.

The event brought together over 200 participants to discuss the protection of critical sites for commercial and urban markets with a particular focus on counter-UAV systems. The different European players (users and suppliers) shared their views and provided feedback on their experiences with existing and future technological solutions. The aim was to support users in finding the most suitable solutions and help solutions providers access markets.

The Circuit Paul Ricard’s unique 350-hectare site, with its airport, hotels and restaurants, is classified as a sensitive site when major events are organised there: 500,000 visitors to the circuit every year (not including the French Formula 1 Grand Prix), 10,000 passengers a year transiting the airport, and guests at the two 3- and 5-star hotels, five restaurants (from fast-food to gourmet), spa, golf course and many seminar rooms.
