From 5 to 7 July 2024, the Spanish F4 Championship was present at the Circuit Paul Ricard for the third round of the season. The Var circuit also hosted the rounds of Eurocup-3 (a new championship situated between FIA F3 and F4), as well as the British Radicals and the 6 Hours of V de V Sports.
The Spanish Formula 4 and Eurocup-3 championships represent the first stages in the careers of FIA single-seater drivers and offer an opportunity to spot today's most talented.
35 F4 drivers competed at Paul Ricard this weekend for the third round, dominated by young Italian Mattia Colnaghi (MP Motorsport), winner of two out of three races.
Endurance was also in the spotlight with the 6 Hours of the Paul Ricard race organised by V de V Sports and reserved for Historic Competition Vehicles. At the top of the podium: the John of B team in a Chevron B8 GT, followed by Team Bersi in a Porsche 3l RS and finally the Equipe Europe Jaguar E-Type. Although not everyone managed to cross the finish line, the competitors were all smiling as the event drew to a close. Next up for historic endurance racing is the famous 2 Tours d'Horloge du Castellet, the world's only 24-hour race for historic vehicles, on the first weekend in November.
It should be added that two-time world champion Emerson Fittipaldi took the wheel of his F1 car again last Sunday. Not without emotion, the 77-year-old Brazilian driver completed a few laps of the Circuit Paul Ricard, to the delight of the spectators in the Pont bend grandstand, which is open free of charge this weekend. His young son, Emerson Fittipaldi Jr, was also present at Le Castellet, as he is entered in the Eurocup-3 championship with MP Motorsport.
