The 2 Tours d'Horloge, the world's only 24-hour non-stop competition for Historic Competition Vehicles, took place on the Circuit Paul Ricard last weekend.
This 18th edition confirmed the popularity of the event among the crews and the public, who always turn out in large numbers. After the traditional ‘Le Mans-style’ start procedure so dear to the 2 Tours d'Horloge, the race got underway at 3.00 pm in glorious sunshine.
At the end of a hard-fought race, the March 81 of the ‘Nelson’/François Belle/Augustin Sanjuan crew crossed the finish line as overall winner.
As on the previous day, two ASAVE grids completed the event's line-up. The second race of the weekend saw the victory of the AC Cobra of the Guénat/Mahé team in ASAVE Racing 65, reserved for GT, Touring and Sports two-seater front-engined cars from before 66, and the Corvette C3 of the father/son Excoffier duo in ASAVE Racing 76, reserved for GT and Touring cars from 1966 to 1976.
Classic and sports car clubs were in the spotlight once again this year, and were able to take part in a grand parade of clubs and collectors on the famous Paul Ricard circuit, on Saturday from 10.45am to 11.15am.
Finally, late on Saturday morning, the event gave four teenagers from the Institut de Rééducation Fonctionnelle de Pomponiana de Hyères (I.R.F.P.O.) (which specialises in the care of patients suffering mainly from disorders of the nervous system or musculoskeletal system) the opportunity to take part in a baptism of track driving on the Paul Ricard circuit in historic competition vehicles from the 2 Tours d'Horloge and ASAVE teams.
