To prepare the 2022 season, the Circuit Paul Ricardorganizes in January the training for marshals who ensure safety on the track.As every year, this training gathered experienced marshals and new recruits.


The training takes place during 12 days, all organizes inthe same way. Each marshal perform at least two training days. It’s the« drill » principle, consisting in repeating procedures until theybecome reflexes.

In the morning, take place theoretical presentations, andthen practical applications (fire, radio and “track” working groups). Themarshals learn how to handle fire extinguishers and communicate bywalkie-talkie. They train in « track » techniques and the replacementof safety equipment (absorbent, floppy, bollard). Part of the training is alsodedicated to the study of FIA, FFSA, FIM and FFM procedures and regulations.


In the afternoon, the marshals faces concrete cases withscenarios. They apply the techniques learned in the morning. The heads of postsupervise the teams, and the new marshals are guided by the explanations of theexperienced marshals.

They intervene in three different situations: one incidentinvolving a motorcycle, one involving a single-seater and a final one with aGT-car. These scenarios allow them to confront the different vents that canhappen during track days and competitions (fires, leaving the track in thegravel, etc.).

The trainers do a debriefing at the end of each exercise, toconstantly improving the marshals' practices.


For the 2022 season, the Circuit Paul Ricard marshals teamis made up of 350 women and men, all volunteers. Their work is essential to thesmooth running of activities on track.
